Strategies to Reduce Emissions from Diesel Engines under Cold Start Conditions: A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Reducing diesel engine emissions under cold start conditions has become much more valuable as environmental issues important. Regarding conditions, this review summarizes the emission mechanisms and specifically focuses on research progress of four reduction strategies: biodiesel utilization, intake heating, injection optimization, aftertreatment technologies. In general, adding Di-Ethyl-Ether (DEE) could provide benefit reducing maintaining performance. Intake heating appropriate strategies also effectively reduce conditions. Unlike normal operating lean nitrogen oxide traps (LNT) or electrically heated catalysts (EHC) should be utilized in engines to minimize By offering information above, a helpful reference for both academia industry.

A Novel Diesel Fuel Additive to Improve Fuel Properties and to Reduce Emissions

Global air pollution is a serious threat caused by excessive use of fossil fuels for transportation. Despite the fact that diesel fuel is a big environmental pollutant as it contains different hydrocarbons, sulphur and crude oil residues, it is yet regarded as a highly critical fuel due to its wide applications. Nowadays, biodiesel as a renewable additive is blended with diesel fuel to achie...

Cold start modelling of spark ignition engines

The ability of mean value models to replicate the key characteristics of automotive powertrains has been well established over the past four decades. There has been considerable success in the application of these models to controller design, with improved emissions and performance of the primary benefits. However, these low order models typically must make certain assumptions about the engine—...

CuH-ZSM-5 as hydrocarbon trap under cold start conditions.

Cold start tests are carried out to evaluate the performance of copper-exchanged zeolites as hydrocarbon traps under simulated gasoline car exhaust gases, paying special attention to the role of copper in the performance of these zeolites. It is concluded that the partial substitution of the protons in the parent H-ZSM-5 zeolite is highly beneficial for hydrocarbon trapping due to the formation...

PCDD/F emissions from light-duty diesel vehicles operated under highway conditions and a diesel-engine based power generator.

PCDD/F emissions from three light-duty diesel vehicles--two vans and a passenger car--have been measured in on-road conditions. We propose a new methodology for small vehicles: a sample of exhaust gas is collected by means of equipment based on United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) method 23 A for stationary stack emissions. The concentrations of O2, CO, CO2, NO, NO2 and SO2 ...
